Here are 5 tips to communicate with a person who has a hearing difference:
1. Face people when you talk to them.
2. Get their attention-say their name or tap their shoulder gently.
3. Talk directly to the person. Please don’t mumble/yell/whisper, talk to the floor, turn away or cover your mouth.
4. Ask for clarification if you don’t understand (use paper & pencil to get the message understood.)
5. Use gestures or learn some sign language to aid communication.
